I was laughing out loud when Jim Lindsey began “playing” his guitar. I noticed that his D string was tuned flat—just like how John Lennon tuned his.  Leave it to CBS to bring in John Lennon as a session musician for this episode. I’m sure the trauma of Paul’s death and John’s subsequent pact never to reveal the truth really did a number on him, but to have to play guitar as part of Brian’s conditioning? That’s just too much. Mayberry had to go to so much trouble to brainwash Brian and utilize his talents in other ways.  When I look around today and see clones, synthetics, and organic robotoids with exact memory transference, I have to give it to the pioneers who labored over brainwashing original talent to forget their original identities. But now that I think about it, Kurt Cobain/Rivers Cuomo gives me the same kind of nostalgia that this episode evokes.  - Jeff from St. Louis
