AS: Who would be your ultimate music guest? If you could choose anybody to either have on the show or tell a story about?

DW: Well, I would have to be really drunk but I’d love to have Pearl Jam on. I’d love to tell the Drunk History of that band and have them reenact everything. They’re my favorite band.

AS: Is there anything else that you can reveal about the themed episodes?

DW: I don’t want to say too much because I want people to watch the show and learn from there. I’m just going to say that there are themed episodes and it’s more history that people don’t know. I’m also really excited about the Hawaii episode. Unless you live there or grew up there, you should have no idea about this stuff. There’s the story of this surfer, Eddie Aikau, and he’s just this great hero. The same goes for the music episode. There is so much that I want to tell, like the story of Kurt and Courtney.

AS: Your mutual love of history tends to really come from a sincere place, too. Derek, I know you’ve previously mentioned that, growing up in Baltimore, the best teacher you ever had was a history teacher. Do you think your former teacher is watching Drunk History? Are they the type of teacher to be really proud of what you’re doing, bringing historical narratives to the masses?

DW: My history teacher, Mr. Stange, is actually in an episode briefly. I got in contact with him on this little thing called Facebook, I don’t know if you’ve ever heard of it. It’s the only positive thing that’s ever happened to me on Facebook.
