Chris Gethard: Maybe. Maybe. We’ll see. I’m putting out a comedy album too that’s coming out in April it looks like. The marriage thing and the pilot thing are tied hand-in-hand to me. I’m sure I’ll get over this but I have in my head that since so many of my friends at this point are people who work on the show, and there’s a chance that Comedy Central might tell us no, then I’ll have a wedding that will effectively be like a funeral for the show. That would be really sad. A real bummer. I’d love to avoid that if possible.

CD: Or it would be a huge party where everyone celebrates.

CG: If they pick up the show, it’ll be the biggest party of all time. No matter what it’ll be fun but that’s also just me. That’s ego. I have to just get over that. I don’t think anyone’s going to be thinking that except me.

CD: The show is called The Chris Gethard Show but it’s really an ensemble. In a lot of the episodes, you almost serve the role of the bystander to everything that’s going on.

CG: When I started this show at UCB, the idea was to be close to a regular talk show but instead of famous guests, I’d have guests from my past. So I had my jiu-jitsu instructor, one of my college roommates, a girl I went on a terrible date with. Then I’d interview them as though they were talk show guests. I think that just made everything feel more personal and strange. A lot of the comedians I was encouraging to let their guard down too, and then it kind of turned into this other thing. But by that point it was already a popular show that had that name. We couldn’t really ditch the name because of the buzz. But yeah, it’s very much an ensemble show.
